Every once in a while we partake in the occasional chicken wing binge, some more than others. How do you prefer your wings – from fast-food chains, restaurant or home-made? If you have never tried making them yourself, here are a few quick and easy recipes to get you started.

Start with this basic recipe, from it you can experiment with different recipes and flavours:

Crispy Chicken Wings (Makes 8)

Ingredients: (I’m pretty sure you have all of these in your kitchen)

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 8 chicken wings or drumettes
  • 2 cups canola oil, for frying

Preparation:

In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, salt, and pepper. Toss the chicken wings in the flour mixture, coating them evenly. Shake off any excess flour and place the wings on a plate. In a large frying pan, heat the oil over high heat until hot. Carefully lower the chicken into the hot oil and fry for about 4 minutes, flipping once. Remove the wings from the oil with tongs or a slotted spoon and place wings on a paper towel-lined plate to drain the oil.
